COLDZONE SOFTWARE / ABOUT
ColdZone Software is me — one person building original games, mods and patches, and custom themes, plus running Tavern Tuesdays on QuakeWorld. No publisher, no roadmap committee. Just things I want to make, made properly and shipped.
01 / THE STORY
ColdZone Software is my one-person studio, based in Canada. It started in 2024 with Windows 98 Game Boy Edition — a project Microsoft shut down not long after it went up (rest in peace).
It began as ColdZone Games, but once the work spread past games into mods, patches, themes and engine tinkering, ColdZone Software just fit better.
These days that means original games like Beige Box Simulator, Pixelwatch and STONE GRABBER on itch.io, mods and patches for existing titles, and custom themes like my Postopia recreation for Flashpoint. And every Tuesday night the Quake engine still gets its hooks in — that's when Tavern Tuesdays fires up on my Snipe Arena mod.
I have been a gamer all my life. At 3 years on a Sega Genesis with Sonic, then to N64 with Mario a couple years later. Later I moved to the PC realm to learn all about developing and modding. Over 20 years of playing and learning led me to form my own passion. When I have an idea for something, I set my mind to it and make it possible.

FOUNDER · EVERYTHING
The one behind ColdZone — designing, coding, modding and running the server. If it's got the ColdZone name on it, it came from this desk.

02 / WHAT I DO
Small, sharp games on itch.io — Beige Box Simulator, Pixelwatch, STONE GRABBER. No early builds; they ship when they're done.
New life for existing games — Snipe Arena for QuakeWorld and a Shadows of the Empire menu-music patch.
Custom themes for apps and software — like my Postopia recreation for the Flashpoint client.
The engine keeps pulling me back: Tavern Tuesdays, Flash Fortress, and QuakeWorld netcode for the 3DS port.
And there's the occasional physical release — boxed by hand and shipped through the shop.
03 / R.I.P.
Not every project survives contact with a trademark lawyer. Poured one out for these two.
The very first ColdZone project. It went up, people liked it, and Microsoft shut it down shortly after. A fine way to start.
TAKEN DOWN BY MICROSOFTA mobile app for tracking your Hot Wheels collection — announced, and then Mattel released their own and killed it shortly after. Many months of work gone.
